My manuscript follows APA 7th Edition referencing All sources cited in your work must be properly referenced using the APA 7th Edition style. This applies to both your in-text citations and your reference list at the end of the document.
My abstract is not more than 250 words Your abstract is a brief summary of your entire paper. It should clearly state your objectives, the methods you used, your key findings, and the significance of your work — all within 250 words. Do not exceed this limit. The abstract appears at the beginning of your manuscript, just below your title.
My manuscript is formatted in Times New Roman, 12pt, double-spaced Your entire manuscript must use Times New Roman font at size 12, with double line spacing throughout. Margins should be 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides. Page numbers should be placed at the bottom center of each page. Proper formatting shows professionalism and makes the review process easier for editors.
ARTICLE TYPES
IJESDS welcomes four types of manuscripts. Read the descriptions below carefully and choose the one that best fits your work.
02
What Kind of Paper Can You Submit?
Original Research Article Maximum: 8,000 words: This is the most common type of academic paper. An Original Research Article presents a completely new study that you have conducted, whether it involves collecting data from the field, running experiments, surveys, or developing a new theory. Your paper must clearly show your research problem, your methodology, your results, and what your findings mean for the field. If you have carried out a new investigation and have fresh results to share with the academic world, this is the right category for you.
Review Article Maximum: 10,000 words: A Review Article does not present new data from an experiment or fieldwork. Instead, it takes a deep and critical look at existing research on a particular topic. You gather, analyze, and synthesize what other scholars have already published, identify gaps, contradictions, or trends, and present a well-organized summary of the current state of knowledge on that subject. This type is ideal for researchers who have extensively studied the literature on a specific topic and want to provide the academic community with a comprehensive overview.
Case Study Maximum: 5,000 words: A Case Study focuses on a real-world situation, project, place, or problem and examines it in detail. It is particularly useful for showing how theories or concepts apply in practice, or for documenting and analyzing a specific project, building, community, policy, or event. If you have worked on or studied a unique real-life scenario that offers valuable lessons or insights for your discipline, a Case Study is the best format to present it.
Technical Note Maximum: 3,000 words: A Technical Note is a short but focused paper that presents a new method, tool, technique, or preliminary finding that is worth sharing with the academic community, even if the full research is still ongoing. It is ideal for early-career researchers or students who have made an interesting methodological discovery or want to share a novel approach to solving a problem. Think of it as a concise, precise contribution that adds something new to your field without requiring a full-length study.
Author Resources
Helpful tools and templates to prepare your submission accurately and efficiently.
Publishing academic research can be a detailed and demanding process, especially for first-time authors. At the International Journal of Environmental Sciences, Development & Sustainability (IJESDS), we are committed to making your submission journey as smooth and straightforward as possible. Our Author Resources section has been carefully put together to provide you with every tool, guide, and information you need to prepare your manuscript correctly and submit it with full confidence.
Whether you are a student submitting your first academic paper, an early-career researcher sharing your findings for the first time, or an experienced academic contributor, this section is designed with you in mind. Here you will find practical resources that walk you through every stage of the preparation process — from formatting your document correctly to referencing your sources the right way.
Formatting is one of the most important aspects of manuscript preparation, and getting it wrong can delay your submission or lead to outright rejection. Our formatting guide clearly explains the required font, spacing, margin sizes, and page numbering conventions that every submission must follow. We also provide a ready-made Microsoft Word template that is already set up with the correct formatting, so all you need to do is type your content and focus on the quality of your work.
Referencing is another area where many authors make avoidable mistakes. IJESDS strictly follows the APA 7th Edition referencing style for all submissions. Our referencing guide breaks this down in simple, easy-to-follow steps — showing you exactly how to cite books, journal articles, websites, government publications, and other sources both within your text and in your reference list. Getting your references right the first time saves you from unnecessary revisions and speeds up the review process.
